Resume Sample Objectives

Resume Sample Objectives – They Can Work For You

Attention grabbing is what resume sample objectives are all about. As a job seeker you have many competitors and your job, for now, is to actively capture the hiring manager, employer, and human resource manager’s attention. Let’s make that even harder because you must accomplish this objective in less than 30 seconds.

It’s not Mission Impossible revisited to capture the employer’s attention in that first 30 seconds or less, but it does require some planning and very careful wording. However, before you start to work on your resume sample objective you should decide if it is suited for the job you are applying for.

There are many ways to work with resume objectives. For example, if you plan on using a single version of your resume, a generic catch all as it were, an objective which is a targeted statement is not usually workable. Applying for many positions with multiple employers an objective listing a single job you were seeking would leave your choices limited. In this case it would be best to a more generic objective.

Fortunately a resume can be tailored and when an objective is suitable for the purpose such as when applying for Lead Sales Manager of Arctic Yellow Jellyfish – Northern Territory, you can craft your objective targeted to that position. With a slight alteration you can remove your sample resume objective when it doesn’t suit the job or you will be applying for many positions.

Assuming that you have decided that a resume objective is right for you then you would put all your persuasiveness and keywords into the body of your resume to capture that position as Lead Sales Manager of Arctic Yellow Jellyfish Northern Territory.

Bad Sample Resume Objectives

"Seeking a position in the northern territory selling Arctic Yellow Jellyfish. I need to work in that area and have some experience in selling Arctic Yellow Jellyfish and am sure you would like me."

Well, I don’t know about you - but that sure did not do much for me and probably not for the hiring manager either. Why? For three reasons.

One - This objective was all about me and what I wanted and was hardly action driven After all, a resume objective is a sales tool and if that Lead Sales Manager can’t sell himself he may not do well in the Northern territory either.

Two - There was nothing about what the employer stood to gain from it. That is the purpose of that objective is to sell yourself and what you can do for that company.

Three - While it is appropriate to briefly mention what you might offer the organization, an objective should stick with the job title and the additional information should be placed in the summary that would be the next item of the resume.

Better Sample Resume Objectives

Increase sales through the application 17 years experience as a Lead Sales Manager of Arctic Yellow Jellyfish Northern Territory.

As a follow up to this interesting objective the Summary, or Resume Summary, would add interesting information like this:

Led a sales force and boat crew to become the number one sales group in the Northern Territories by applying a working knowledge of each and every buyer of Arctic Yellow Jellyfish along as the experience gained from captaining a boat and leadership skills honed by experience.
